Urban Decay lovin'

Wednesday 11 February 2015

Naked 3 by Urban Decay has been a palette I've lusted after ever since it was released, and to finally say I have it is quite exciting (who knew Santa had such good taste?)
The palette comes with 12 shadows, a mix of rosy/pink and taupe toned shades, and a couple of darker shades for the smokey option. The most attractive thing about this palette for me is the fact the shade range is so different to anything I've tried before. I normally like to stick to the neutral/bronze eyeshadow combo, and so this palette is a little bit of diversity in my collection.
The pigmentation of the shadows is really impressive, especially when paired with the Urban Decay Primer Potion, which I've also really been loving recently. There is slight fall out with some of the darker shadows, but I've found it is really easy to dust off and doesn't leave any residue on the skin.
The price tag is slightly off putting initially, with it retailing at £38, however I actually think it's a really good price considering the range and quality of shadows you get!
To say I've been impressed by Urban Decay is an understatement. Sign me up for the next Naked palette!

Body Shop Haulin'

Sunday 18 January 2015

The Body Shop and I have a love hate relationship, I absolutely love their products, yet hate how whenever I go in, I always come out with a full shopping bag and completely empty purse, it's just too hard to resist!
Over the Christmas period, The Body Shop were doing some absolutely amazing deals, that I couldn't not take advantage of, and as a result I ended up with 12 new products, which I just have to share!
I am a complete hoarder when it comes to their shower gels, so I decided to pick up four more (no surprise there). I went for, Moringa, Vineyard Peach, Passion Fruit and Pink Grapefruit. As you can see, I absolutely adore these! The smell is incredible, and I've found that the scent actually lingers on my skin hours after the shower, which is always a good thing!
I was seemingly on a bit of a Moringa hype, because I also picked up the Moringa Body Sorbet, and also the Moringa Hand Cream. I went for sorbet over lotion purely because I think sometimes the lotions can be a little bit heavy on my skin, and don't seem to sink in as rapidly as the sorbets do. I also went for the Moringa hand cream, as my hands are definitely victims of the cold weather this Winter, and need a little TLC to get them back on track.
The last of the body care items is the Vineyard Peach Body Scrub. The Vineyard Peach scent is one of my favourites from the Body Shop, so when I saw this on their website half price, it was straight in my basket. It smells incredible, and works really well a keeping my skin soft and smooth.
My skincare routine has been all over the place recently, and the majority of the time I've been committing the ultimate skincare sin by skipping cleanser all together and just using a makeup wipe all over my face, which is why I decided to update my routine. I went for the Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil, the Seaweed Deep Cleansing Facial Wash, the Vitamin E Moisture Serum and the Vitamin E Moisture Cream. I hate to be that person, but you're going to have to wait for my Skincare Routine post for a full review on each of these products (I promise it'll be worth the wait).
Finally, over Christmas, The Body Shop brought out two Christmas scents, one of which was Glazed Apple. I completely fell in love with it, yet as I clearly already have enough body products, I decided to get it in a room spray. This was really great as it kept my room smelling festive during the holidays.
I think its time I went on a Body Shop spending ban for a while, because I don't think my purse can withstand another trip to the Body Shop for a while!

Blog Organisation Tips

Saturday 3 January 2015

Some people may argue that me giving organisation tips is like the blind leading the blind, and a lot of the time I wouldn't disagree. However, although I am very un-organised with homework, revision and anything school related, I'm actually not half bad at keeping up to date with my blog. So I decided to share my tips and tricks on how to stay organised with your blog. Enjoy!
1) Get a 2015 Diary- A diary is a great way to plan posts weeks, and if you really want to be organised, even months in advance! I'm often stuck for ideas on what to post next, so if I plan in advance, I can just get on with it! It's also great for scribbling down dates you need to remember, and plans you've made for the coming weeks (for those of you who are not only un-organised, but forgetful as well!) Anyway, who doesn't love going shopping for a new diary at the beginning of the year!
2) To Do Lists- Making 'to do' lists is the only way I get through life without drowning in the amount of work I have to do. Using them means I keep up to date with everything I need to do, and don't forget to do something. I like to use these little post it notes, but if you're all about the technological way of life, try the 'Do!' App , it's amazing for the times you remember something you have to do while you're out, as you can just note it down on one of their super cute to do lists.
3) Upload day- This is something I've only recently discovered, but it actually helps so much! Usually I would just upload spontaneously on random days, and I'm not saying I'm going to stop doing that all together. But having one set upload day means that I will at least get one post up a week, helping me to keep up to date with posts! My upload day with be a Saturday from now on, so look out for new posts every week!!
I hope this somewhat helped you in blog organisation, I am living proof that it actually works, as I've been uploading more regularly and I'm not forgetting pictures I need to take or posts I need to write!
Happy 2015,
Lily xx

Revlon Lip Butter Obsession

Wednesday 31 December 2014

Left to right: Pink Lemonade, Sweet Tart, Wild Watermelon, Tutti Frutti, Red Velvet and Juicy Papaya
My name is Lily, and I'm a Revlon Lip Butter addict.
Revlon never fail to bring it all to the table with their lip products, but their lip butters are a whole new level of perfection. I've been loving these all year round, so it made sense to talk about them on my final post for 2014. Let's begin.
I am not a matte lipstick kind of girl, which is why I think these work so well for me, as they have a nice sheen to them and are really moisturising, which is what I normally look for in a lipstick. They are highly pigmented, but can easily be blended so you can opt for the more toned down look if you want too. The only negative I can find is their lasting power, as it is only around 1-2 hours at most on me (cue shocked expressions), so if you don't like having to reapply, these won't be the best option for you.
My favourite is Juicy Papaya, a peachy pink which is perfect to throw on in the day, and compliments gold/shimmery eye makeup amazingly. I have also been loving Red Velvet, which can be built up to be a really dark, arguably daring shade.
I am absolutely obsessed with these lip butters, and have been for the whole of 2014, bravo Revlon, you've come out on top, again.

Unlikely Style Icon

Wednesday Addams - Unlikely style icon

Wednesday Addams is my icon in both style and life in general. I know, you wouldn't necessarily think to look at Wednesday for inspiration when you're stuck for an outfit, but i've found that you can actually take a lot of fashion tips from her.
1) First of all, it is always okay to wear black head to toe- I am a serious advocate of the black on black look and Wednesday absolutely rocks it. If there is one thing we have to take from her, it is without a doubt this. After all she is famous for saying "I'll stop wearing black, when they make a darker colour".
2) Collars. Although they're seemingly very simple, I think they actually look really cute and just add something extra to your outfit. I've found that collared tops are especially well suited for winter, as you can layer them under a big wooly jumper to stay warm. If you want to tone it down, wear a peter pan collar instead of her big standout version.
3) Finally, lace up boots. In all the pictures i've found of her, she seems to be sporting a simple pair of all black lace up boots. These are a staple item, especially for this time of the year. I think they look really cute with jeans, or a dress just like Wednesday!
I hope you enjoyed this post, and maybe even take a little inspiration from Wednesday Addams when you're next stuck for an outfit! And why not go all out and throw your hair in plaits to complete the whole look!
I hope you have a merry christmas,
lots of love Lily Mint xx

The Ripped Jeans

Monday 24 November 2014

Jeans are not something I buy very often, in fact, if it hadn't been for my discovery of Topshop Joni Jeans, I doubt I'd even be wearing jeans at all. Joni's are simply my holy grail jeans, but I wanted to try and branch out by buying a different style, at an attempt to bring some diversity to my outfits.
I found that Asos have a wide variety of different jeans, but I settled for the 'Ridley Skinny Jeans in Phoenix Dark Wash Blue'. I really love the ripped jeans look, and think it just adds an extra aspect to an outfit. I went for blue jeans over black to try and add a little more colour to my outfits, as my wardrobe is definitely dominated by monochrome pieces at the moment.
They're really comfortable and are a really great quality, especially considering they were £32, which is cheaper than other shops on the high street. The only thing I would say is that the sizes are quite big, as I've found that they are slightly baggy in some places.
Overall, I would say I am really pleased with ASOS jeans, but don't worry, I will never stray too far from Topshop Joni's.

Managing Magazines

Sunday 26 October 2014

After religiously collecting Company magazine for months and months, I found myself with a crazy amount of magazines that were starting to curl up at the edges and were taking up useful room. I couldn't bring myself to completely get rid of them but wanted a way to display them in an easier, more condensed way.
So I decided to buy a plain white scrapbook, where I would be able to cut out my favourite articles and pictures, and then get rid of the parts I wasn't interested in.
I thought I'd share this with you as I've found that it is a really fun DIY, which results in me having all of my favourite articles in one book. Its ten times easier to find things you're looking for, while doing a little scrapbooking for fun.
You should definitely try out doing this with your favourite magazines, as it is a really cool way of displaying your favourite articles, while being creative and having fun doing it. You can lay it out however you want, and can make it your own by customising it with pictures and stickers etc.
I still have a lot of Company mags to get through, but once I've got through them all I will be left with a really cute book full of all my favourite parts (and about a dozen Vogues, which I won't ever be able to bring myself to cut up).
